Rhianedd Collins
As a REP you are expected to display exceptional characteristics and also take upon certain responsibilities alongside your studies. You have a responsibility to ensure that the students in your school and on your course are represented fairly. Rhianedd Collins, a PGT student from the School of Culture and Communication, displayed this and helped platform the voices of students in her school, and so has been given the title of Rep of the Month for December.
Rhianedd attends meetings regularly, providing valuable input into discussions, and consistently makes it a priority to gather feedback from students. She has also been working to foster a cross-course postgraduate community within the University. This is so that the PGT students at the university can support one another with academic and wellbeing needs.
During study week, she organized and ran a PGT study skills & social event for SoCC and SoSS. She was able to arrange for a representative from CAS to attend and run a study skills workshop. It was well attended by both home and international students. She has also started organizing coffee walks for PGT students to improve the social connections between PG students. These walks take place on campus, and students get the opportunity to talk about concerns related to their courses and also get to talk to Rhianedd on a more personal level. She also volunteered to be part of the focus group in My Engagement Platform and successfully encouraged over 100 students to complete the survey for the WhatUni Review Survey.
Rhianedd also created a WhatsApp group which she uses to advertise further study skills and social events that are run. Students have engaged well with this idea, and many have since joined the group. We are taking this opportunity to commend Rhianedd on her dedication to providing students with an improved academic experience, and platforming the voices of her fellow students, all whilst completing her degree, Congratulations Rhianedd.
