St David’s Day is a national celebration of Welsh culture and is the day to honour the patron Saint of Wales! We are proud to be a Welsh University and will be flying the flag high and hosting some great events and activities for you to enjoy.
As well as Faraday and the Great Hall being lit up in with the colours of Y Ddraig Goch all week to celebrate, you can also enjoy food pop ups on campus, traditional Welsh cuisine in our catering outlets, and 10% off Welsh merchandise at Fulton Outfitters on 1st March.

- You can Join Faith@CampusLife for our celebration of St David’s Day on Friday, 9.30am, 1st March @ The Haven, Bay Campus.
To follow there will be drop-in craft activities and games to help you learn more about St David and reflect on his life and work, this will take place until 2pm. Free refreshments are served throughout the event. Click here for your tickets.
- If you fancy heading into Swansea town, Campuslife has arranged a trip to Swansea Market for St Davids Day. Did you know it’s recently been named the UK’S best indoor market?
You’ll have the chance to visit a wide range of stalls and purchase some authentic Welsh food! You’ll also have the opportunity to chat with various stallholders throughout the visit to learn more about their life in the market! Throughout the event, we will also be discussing some of the tales and history surrounding St David, so it’s a great opportunity to learn more about Welsh history!
- Intercollegiate Eisteddfod 1st -2nd March
More than 500 Welsh students from Welsh universities are expected to flock to Swansea as the Intercollegiate Eisteddfod re-visits Swansea University. Sports tournaments, including rugby sevens, football, and netball, will take place on Friday, 1st March at the Bay Sports Park (Sketty Lane) and a day of competition will begin in the University’s Great Hall on the Bay Campus at 10am on Saturday, 2nd March.
The celebrations will end with the 2024 Intercollegiate Eisteddfod Gig, an evening of celebrating Welsh musical talent including some of the biggest names in the Welsh rock scene namely Mellt, Gwilym, and FRMAND. Be sure to grab your ticket for this unforgettable evening, £10 in advance or £15 on the door (depending on availability) at the Cove Nightclub Singleton Campus.
