Your library is thrilled to announce major renovations to the Bay Library’s South Wing coming this summer! From June through August, our team will be working hard to create a more comfortable and versatile study environment based on your student feedback.

What you can expect:

  • Relocation of books and journals: All materials from the South Wing are currently being moved to the Bay Library Central Hall. Our library teams have calculated that all the items will fit on the existing shelving in the Central Hall, without removing or reducing any of our collections.
  • New and improved study spaces: Look forward to a new modern design withcomfortable seating, enclosed work pods for silent study, and collaborative  study spaces.
  • Sustainable practice: All furniture within the South Wing that will no longer be needed, will be relocated and used within other parts of the library where possible. For items that cannot be reused, the library is exploring donation opportunities with local schools.

While we aim to keep noise and disruption to a minimum, access to the South Wings, Postgraduate Room, and PC Room 2 may be restricted at times.

We will communicate this with you when the time(s) arise. Follow our library social media channels (@swanseaunilib) for updates – we’re excited to share before and after photos of the transformed space!

Thank you for your cooperation whilst we work to improve your study spaces for the next academic year.
