What’s new on campus?

Over recent months and over the summer, we have been busy making improvements across our campuses, including the refurbishment of labs, introduction of a microwave room at Fulton and a brand-new canteen at St Davids Park, plus improvements to roadways and footpaths.

Singleton Library has also seen some changes. Your MyUni Library Singleton Park Campus desk has been relocated to the front foyer area of the building. As you walk into your Library, the friendly MyUni Library team will be on your right-hand side, welcoming you into the building and assisting you in any way they can.

The move has also enabled some exciting future upgrades and changes to the foyer space, making it a vocal point for all your library wants and needs!

We’ve also been working on improving your outdoor environment. We have completed essential repair works to the Fulton Lawn steps, and have made improvements to the Vivian Pond area, making it a DDA compliant accessible area for all students to enjoy.

We’re very proud of our new 3g pitch at Swansea Bay Sports Park. The state-of-the-art facility held a number of this year’s Varsity events and will continue to be utilised throughout the year providing you with the opportunity to achieve BUCS sporting success.

Harbwr Kitchen

The refurbishment of of the main kitchen in Fulton House was completed earlier on in the summer! This has been a really important investment into your experience on campus. The kitchen has been transformed into a modern commercial kitchen space from where we can create exciting and sustainable menus that meet the diverse needs of our campus community. Take a look at what’s on offer at Harbwr on the Uni Food Hub App.

REMINDER – Both Bay and Singleton campuses operate an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system, which means there is no parking on campus for non-permit holders between 8am until 4pm.

Between 4pm to 8am Monday to Friday and over weekends, those without permits can pay to park using the pay machines on campus. A student out-of-hours permit (evenings and weekends from 4pm to 8am the next morning) is also available at a cost of £20 per year. To find out more visit our parking pages.

How your attendance and engagement will be monitored in the 24/25 academic year

Engagement correlates with performance. This means that the more you engage with your studies, the better you will do. Your engagement will primarily be monitored via attendance at face-to-face learning sessions and engagement with course materials in Canvas.

  •  If you are a Student Route visa holder, your engagement will only be monitored via your attendance at face-to-face learning sessions due to Home Office (UKVI) requirements.
  • Certain professional courses within the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science will also only be monitored by attendance at face-to-face learning sessions due to the requirements of the courses. You will be notified at the start of your course if this applies to you.
  • If you are a Home (UK) student in receipt of Student Finance, engagement with studies is a requirement for release of your tuition fees and maintenance loan and the University has a requirement to report non-attendance to SLC (Student Loans Company).
  • Please note that in a change from the previous academic year, if you aren’t attending your timetabled classes in person, this could result in the request requirement to suspend your studies, following an opportunity to discuss this with your Faculty.

Library Guides

Thanks to your feedback, we have been able to introduce a new and improved version of the Swansea University Library guides, featuring an upgraded mobile friendly interface, a helpful and search-friendly FAQ database, better subject specific resources, and so much more!
