Did you know the University has policies in place to improve your learning experience?
We’ve been listening to feedback and working with your Students’ Union to update our policies to set clear expectations for you.
Assessment, Marking and Feedback Policy
We have made important changes to our Assessment, Marking and Feedback Policy – Swansea University to improve the effectiveness of the assessment and feedback process for students and staff. The policy has recently been updated in relation to the following information:
- We have updated the policy to assure standards in relation to Generative AI. The University now has a dedicated Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Student Assessment – Swansea University.
- We have clarified how assessments will be marked, including specific attention to module marks that are close to grade boundaries (e.g, marks ending in 9)
- We have revised the policy’s language to more effectively promote race inclusion, ensuring alignment with the Race Equality Charter.
- For students on collaborative programmes, the policy clarifies you may receive ratified marks from the collaborative partner institution. For students studying at partner institutions submission times will take into account time zone differences and submission dates will not be set during closures of the partner institution. Also, assessment will normally be marked, moderated and externally reviewed in the language of submission.
- To improve support for Welsh medium and other languages, the policy clarifies that any work submitted in Welsh, or another language will be marked in the language submitted and only translated into English to be marked as a last resort. We’ve also updated guidance in Assessment in Welsh/Another Language – Swansea University.
Lecture and Teaching Content Recording Policy
The Lecture and Teaching Content Recording Policy – Swansea University has also been updated for clarity. Please note, lecture recordings are not a replacement for in-person attendance but can be used to enrich and support activities in teaching sessions. Normally, you will only be able to access recordings for your modules or programme.
