The Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science will hold a major incident training exercise for its final year paramedic students on Friday 30th May 2025 which will affect access to some areas of Singleton Campus.
Major incident training exercise
Bringing together our paramedic students, staff and members of the Welsh Ambulance Service University NHS Trust (WAST), this exercise will deal with the aftermath of an explosion at a firework factory and will involve multiple simulated casualties in the Meadow area of Singleton Campus.
The scenario has been carefully planned to provide a highly realistic environment to develop students’ skills in triage, patient transport, and emergency management.
The exercise will provide an accurate simulation scene, including the use of emergency vehicles and realistic injuries, to help our paramedic students develop their experience of triaging, transporting and managing patients during a real major incident.
Campus Operations
The exercise will start at approximately 10:15am and end at approximately 4:30pm, with sessions planned for the morning and afternoon. There will be increased activity and emergency vehicles at the Meadow area of Singleton campus, which will be cordoned off to staff and students.
We understand that whilst this is a very important training event for students, it might be distressing for some people. Those who feel they may be distressed by the simulation are advised to avoid the surrounding area.
