In response to your feedback, we are pleased to let you know that First Cymru are introducing enhancements to your bus services from the 7th of January.
Our Sustainable Travel Officer has been working closely with First Cymru to address some of the bus travel issues you have been raising.
You have told us that some services can be unreliable, busy and infrequent, and that you are not getting to your lectures on time – this has been a particular problem for those of you coming from City Centre accommodation.
First Cymru have taken on board your feedback and are introducing a number of improvements* to services from January 7th:
Improvements to Term time services from 7th January
- Students traveling from Seren, Orchard Street and Swansea Railway Station will now have dedicated bus services to both Singleton and Bay Campus. (Service __ will be every 15 minutes at peak times)
- Students traveling from True and Roost will now have services running every 30 minutes from outside the True and Roost accommodation blocks. (running every 15 minutes at peak times)
- The existing 91 service which is Campus to Campus will run a more reliable hourly service between 06:05am and 19:00pm only and cease to run 24 hours.
- In replacement of the 24-hour 91 service, the 90 and 92 services will now operate a 07:45am until 03:41am Monday to Saturday Each service will operate until 22:42 on a Sunday.
- The new 90 (Bay Campus Circular) and 92 (Singleton Campus Circular) services will each service the Swansea Bus Station, allowing for easy hop on-hop off access to the wider Swansea Bus network. The new circular routes should also mitigate the bus delays caused by ongoing Swansea roadworks.
- A new 90A service will operate at peak times, providing a regular 30-minute service between Fabian Way Park and Ride and Bay Campus.
*Please note service improvements have also been informed by up-to-date Unibus passenger data.

Now that there’s only one bus from Bay to Singleton, it’s going to be really crowded and hard to get anywhere. The buses were unreliable and always busy, but at least there was two choices to get to Singleton from Bay, now there’s only one and if it continues to take an HOUR to get to Singleton, might as well get the bus two hours before class starts.
Come on Swansea Uni. These students are hugely important to our wider economy and community, it’s about time you stepped up and start doing much better for them. You’re making life difficult for your own customers and these changes clearly aren’t good enough.
Thank you for your feedback, we will pass this on to the relevant staff. Please note, that the University does not run the bus service, this is a commercial service run by First, however, we do work with them to pass on student feedback and try to improve the service.
Thank GOD that First has scrapped ALL direct busses from Singleton to Killay. Those of us living on the west side just get to walk or take 2 busses. Brilliant.
