The Faculty of Medicine Health and Life Science will be holding a major incident training exercise for final year paramedic students on Friday 10th May in the Abbey Meadow area of Singleton Campus.
It will bring together paramedic students, staff and members of the Welsh Ambulance Service University NHS Trust (WASUT), who will take part in a simulated road traffic accident involving multiple casualties.
The exercise will be carefully created to provide an accurate scene and realistic injuries as it is designed to help the paramedic students develop their experience of triaging, transporting and managing patients during a major incident.
The exercise will start around 10:15am and end around 4:30pm. During this time, there will be increased activity and emergency vehicles in the Abbey Meadow area, which will be cordoned off to staff and students.
We understand that whilst this is a very important training event for students, it might be distressing for some people. Those who feel they may be distressed by the simulation are advised to avoid the surrounding area.
