Want to build mental resilience while playing a videogame?
Purpose of the study:
This study aims to explore how playing a video game based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) can help manage anxiety, depression, and stress. We are investigating whether this engaging, interactive approach can improve psychological flexibility, making it easier to navigate mental health challenges.
What’s in it for you?
By taking part, you will gain new skills to manage stress, anxiety, and depression while contributing to research on improving mental health treatments. You’ll also enjoy a unique, engaging game designed to boost your wellbeing.
What does participation involve?
You’ll play a 45-minute video game designed to teach psychological skills, followed by 10 minutes of questionnaires. You’ll also complete 5-minute ECG measurements before and after the game, and a follow-up questionnaire three weeks later. All sessions will be in a controlled lab environment.
Who is it for?
This study is for adults 18+ who are experiencing mild to moderate symptoms of anxiety, depression, or stress. If you’re open to trying a video game-based intervention to manage these challenges, we’d love to have you join us!
When and where?
The study is running until late-2025. A specific time slot will be arranged with you.
Swansea University, Singleton Park Campus, SA2 8PP
