Assessment support for students sitting exams in May

To support those of you who are sitting assessments in May, please take a look at the below, which highlights useful information to help you prepare and feel informed going into this period.

Free courses to help you prepare

The assessment period can be a demanding time for many students, but the Centre for Academic Success can provide you with lots of useful study tips and resources that focus on sharpening your skills, and develop your confidence through a range of courses, workshops and one-to-one tutorials to become a more effective learner.

As part of the Centre for Academic Success’s exam skills week on the 31st of March, you can join a range of courses to support you in your studies, such as the effective revision, mastering exam success, and academic writing sessions. For more information and to sign up, visit their webpages, where you can also find a range of online courses that you can complete in your own time.

The Students’ Union is also running a variety of Study Aid activities from the 5th of May to the 6th of June to help you with your revision, or to simply help you destress and cope with the added pressures of this period.

Borrow a laptop or use a PC on campus

Did you know we have laptops available for you to loan at both Singleton and Bay Campus libraries?

If you need to borrow a laptop ahead of exams, head over to our library webpages to find out how. The borrowing process is really simple.

There are also plenty of desktop computers for you to use across all campuses. Some are bookable, and some can be used without having a prior booking. You can find out more information here. You can find more details about out-of-hour PC labs on our Study Spaces webpages.

The Students’ Union also have an independent Advice and Support Centre, the team will be available to students for drop in sessions during the assessment period.

A balance of study and social life

Whilst study and revision are important, it’s equally important to have balance. A personalised version of your May 2025 examination timetable will be available via the intranet this week, please keep an eye out for the email confirming how you can view your examinations timetables.

Travel

Check out our student news pages for First Bus timetables during revision and exams. These timetables have been shaped by your feedback, and focus on getting you to and from exams easily.

Cycling and walking to exams are also affordable options, great for your physical and mental wellbeing. Remember to plan ahead and get to know your exam venues.
