To support those of you who are sitting assessments in January, please take a look at the below, which highlights useful information to help you prepare and feel informed going into this period.
Free courses to help you prepare
The assessment period can be a demanding time for many students, but the Centre for Academic Success can provide you with lots of useful study tips and resources that focus on sharpening your skills, and develop your confidence through a range of courses, workshops and one-to-one tutorials to become a more effective learner.
The Students’ Union will also be running a variety of Study Aid activities from 5- 23 January to help you with your revision, or to simply help you destress and cope with the added pressures of this period.
Borrow a laptop or use a PC on campus
Did you know we have laptops available for you to loan at both Singleton and Bay Campus libraries?
If you need to borrow a laptop ahead of exams, head over to our library webpages to find out how. The borrowing process is really simple.
There are also plenty of desktop computers for you to use across all campuses. Some are bookable, and some can be used without having a prior booking. You can find out more information here. You can find more details about out-of-hour PC labs on our Study Spaces webpages.
Spaces to study on campus
Whether you’re looking for a quiet spot to study, need to collaborate as a group or just want to relax and unwind, we have plenty of space for you across all three campuses.
Christmas hours – out of hours study spaces
- The out-of-hours study spaces in Union 302 and Nanhyfer PC Lab 004 at Bay will remain open 24/7 over the Christmas closure period.
- They will revert back to normal opening hours (as advertised on Hwb) from Monday 5 January 2026.
Take action and study smart: Download and save critical resources
As we approach the end of term, now is the perfect time to make sure you’ve downloaded and saved the key resources you’ll need for coursework, revision, and research. With the University closed from 24 December to 4 January, and library and IT support limited to our online guides and knowledge base during this period, it’s important to take action now to protect your work and ensure uninterrupted access to everything you need, especially if you’re travelling.
Support and advice
Navigating the assessment period can be stressful, so we have a variety of resources at Swansea University to support you during this time.
We’ve got just the thing to help you prepare for the upcoming exam period! Hapus, our online Student Life Toolkit, has plenty of top tips and information to help you plan your study schedule, avoid procrastination, and deal with stress and uncertainty. Visit Hapus here.
The Students’ Union also have an independent Advice and Support Centre, the team will be available to students for drop in sessions during the assessment period.
Extenuating Circumstances
The University recognises that students may be affected by a wide range of circumstances which may lead to the inability to prepare for or undertake assessments.
If you are unable to prepare for or undertake assessments because of these difficulties, you can apply for extenuating circumstances via e:Vision. This guide has been produced to help you understand what you should do if you are experiencing any personal difficulties or extenuating circumstances which you feel are affecting your studies.
