The free travel scheme for refugees known as the ‘Welcome Ticket’ will no longer be available on bus and train services in Wales from 1st April 2024.
This means if you previously benefited from the scheme, you will now need to pay for travel. You may however be eligible for one of the Welsh Government’s free or discounted travel schemes if you are:
- A young person aged between 16-21 –You can apply for a MyTravelPass which will give you discounted travel across Wales
- A disabled passenger or over 60 – If your primary address is in Wales and you meet the Government’s disability eligibility criteria, or are over 60 years of age, you can travel for free on most bus services in Wales.
For further information on these and other discounted travel tickets please see www.traveline.cymru
If you are concerned you will be unable to meet your travel costs, please email money.campuslife@swansea.ac.uk who will be able to discuss any available options.
